Bihar (बिहार in Devanagri) is a state situated in the eastern part of India. Its capital is Patna. The name Bihar is a corruption of Vihara which means a Buddhist monastery. It is bordered on the north by the Kingdom of Nepal. It is surrounded on its west, south, and east sides by the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal, respectively. Bihar lies in the very fertile Gangetic plains, and is part of the Hindi-speaking heartland of India.

Sadhu. Sonepur Mela. Bihar
Sri Maitresa Sharma was a 28 years old Sadhu from Banauli, Bihar. When he died, his brother decided he would come to Sonepur to do the ceremony and throw the body in the Gandak river on Kartik Purnima day, as a Sadhu can't be cremated. We drove the body in the middle of the river before letting him go. In the background, a fisherman and Kali ghats. www.claude-renault.fr

That one was a bit curious about the camera... She came to look inside..
Another nice moment. Patna in the state of Bihar is a very friendly city.

Saddhu. Patna.
A sleepy saddhu at the door of a small temple in Patna. The Saddhu tradition has a long history. It consists of renouncing
worldly ties in pursuit of higher values of life. Ideally a sadhu lives in the society but is detached from its pleasures and pains.
Saddhus typically survive on bhiksha (alms) provided by families, and on natural resources, and they spend much of
their time in meditation.

Thums up. Patna
A picture taken in Patna, the capital of the state of Bihar. Temperature was going up very fast,
and this rickshaw driver was having a well earned rest. Difficult light that day.
"Thums" Up is a national drink, with a taste close to the one of Coke, a bit better for me and a lot cheaper..
Patna is a very interesting town with no tourists at all, so it's really quiet for us travelling there..
